Sour Cream: 1 cup
Boiling Water: 1 cup
Unsweetened Chocolate: 1 ounce, melted
Milk: ¼ cup
Confectioners’ Sugar: 1 ¾ cup
Eggs: 3

Directions to Prepare:

Preheat the oven to about 350 degrees F and then move on to preparing the cake batter.
In a large bowl sieve the all purpose flour, baking powder and salt and keep it aside. In another big bowl, beat about ½ cup of butter with 2 ½ cups of sugar till the time it blends in properly. To this add one egg at a time and then beat in the vanilla extract and the melted chocolate as mentioned in the ingredients list.

Now add half of the sour cream and half of the sieved ingredients in the batter and blend in well. Once done add the, another half of the sour cream and the dry ingredients and stir in the boiling water. Blend it again.

Add the batter in a greased and dusted 9 x 13 inch baking tray and bake it in the preheated oven for the next 35 minutes or till the time it is properly cooked. You can know that if the toothpick pricked at the centre of the cake comes out clean.

Keep the cake to cool for the next 10 minutes before you can actually start the icing process.

The Icing Method:

Take ½ cup butter in a pan and let it melt. To this add one cup of brown sugar and leave it to boil for 2-3 minutes. Add on ¼ cup milk and let it come to a boil. The pan should be places in cold water and then the confectioners’ sugar should be added to it. This should be stirred till the time its smooth. This can be spread evenly on the warm cake.

Shortening: ¾ cup

Lemon Zest: 2 teaspoons, grated
Orange Zest: 2 teaspoons, grated

Food Colouring: yellow, green, orange, 2 drops each

Orange Cream Frosting: 1 cup

Directions to Prepare:

The first things first, preheat the oven at 350 degree F and grease and dust three 9 inch pans well and keep it aside. These should be done before you move on to the method of preparing the cake. Also sieve the flour, salt and the baking powder in a bowl and keep it separately.

Take a large bowl and in this the sugar and shortening should be beaten till the time it becomes fluffy, light and soft in nature. In this, beat one egg at a time until each one of them is blended in the mixture completely. Add on the vanilla extract and add half the flour mix and milk and blend again. Once done add the remaining milk and flour to it as well as mix it until the ingredients are well blended together. Divide this mix in three bowls.

To the first bowl add the lemon zest and the yellow colour and mix it well. This should be poured in one of the prepared trays. The second one should be incorporated with orange zest and orange food colouring and poured in the second greased pan. The last mixture bowl should be used for the green colour and lime zest, mixed well and poured in the third prepared pan.
